Frequently Asked Questions

What is the North Node in astrology?
The North Node is the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic moving north. Astrologically, it describes growth direction, unfamiliar lessons, and the path that stretches you.
What is the South Node?
The South Node is always exactly opposite the North Node. It describes familiar habits, gifts, and comfort zones that can support growth but should not become the whole story.
Is this the true node or mean node?
This calculator uses the true lunar node from Swiss Ephemeris, which includes the node's short-term wobble instead of smoothing it into the mean node.
Do I need my birth time for the North Node?
Date is usually enough for node sign, because the nodes move slowly. Birth time is useful near a sign boundary and for house placement in a full chart.
How often does the North Node change signs?
The lunar nodes move backward through the zodiac and change signs about every 18 months, completing a full cycle in roughly 18.6 years.
